AAC Recertifies Registration and Upgrades to ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011

AAC Inc., a leading provider of Information Technology (IT) solutions, announced today that their Service Management System (SMS) has been recertified as compliant with the International Standard for Information Technology Service Management ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011. AAC is one of the first companies in the United States to obtain this corporate level certification with the release of the new 2011 version of the standard.

For the last three years AAC was registered to the ISO/IEC 20000-1:2005 standard. The 2011 edition of the ISO/IEC 20000 standard is an improved and updated version which clarifies the previous requirements, expands existing clauses, incorporates new definitions and introduces new requirements.

The successful upgrade was a direct result of AAC’s Information Systems department working with the Quality Assurance division to effectively maintain the consistency of the existing SMS while fine tuning it once the new version of the standard was released. “Incorporating the 2011 requirements simply made AAC’s Service Management System that much more robust” said Ugur Koser, AAC’s CIO/CTO and Vice President of Information Systems. “ISO 20000 continues to enable our ability to effectively deliver managed services that meet our business and customer requirements.”

The ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 standard now closely aligns with ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO/IEC 27001 (Information Security) which allows for the integration of management systems. AAC has been registered to ISO 9001 since 2006 and already implemented the elements of their corporate quality system in their IT Service Management System.

The accredited third-party certification body BSI Management Systems America, Inc. was chosen as AAC’s registrar in this process. BSI provides independent assessment and management system certification for clients in over 140 countries worldwide. AAC was issued BSI’s first ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 certificate of registration.
